Freddy Asprilla claims Salvadorean Liga MB weekly honour

Experienced American-Colombian Freddy Asprilla (206-C-1988) put on an amazing game in the last round for Santiagueno and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 33-year old center had a double-double of 19 points and twenty nine rebounds, while his team beat Nejapa (#9, 2-7) 95-80. Santiagueno is placed at 8th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. Santiagueno is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-6 record. Asprilla just recently signed at Santiagueno, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Canisius College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Asprilla leads league in rebounds with 20.2rpg. Asprilla is in league's top in and averages solid 1.2bpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American shooting guard Marcus Faison (196-SG-1994) of Nejapa. Faison impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 24 rebounds. Bad luck as Nejapa lost that game 80-95 to slightly higher-ranked Santiagueno (#8, 3-6). Nejapa is still second from the bottom in the standings. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Nejapa managed to get this year. Faison is one of the most experienced players at Nejapa and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Andravious Smith (196-G/F-1995) of Cojute (#11). Smith got into 30-points club by scoring 39 points in the last round. He went also for thirteen rebounds . Despite Smith's great performance Cojute lost 80-97 to the higher-ranked San Salvador (#1, 9-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Cojute can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-9 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Smith has individually a great season in El Salvador. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 31.7ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 16.0rpg (3rd best). He also has 1.3bpg and FGP: 53.4%.
